Cottonwood Dental Group, Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp Highlands Ranch Dentists, provide cosmetic dental services to their patients. Your first dental visit is for each of us to get to know each other and to collect data and determine your overall dental health and goals.

Dentist Highlands Ranch

First, we are NOT a high patient volume dental practice. Our Highlands Ranch and Denver dentist and hygenists see only one patient each at a time. Our office not a clinic and we have a reception room not a waiting room. HMO's and PPO's require dental staff to juggle dental patients in order to be seen. Our office chooses a more relaxed method of delivery of dental services.

First, we discuss with you your long-term dental goals for your dental health... what concerns you have had in the past... and what concerns you have now. For many of our patients their dental health is excellent and they have no concerns. For other patients, their dental health concerns range from cavities to esthetic considerations.

Typically your initial examination includes:

What do you want to accomplish in the long -term... keep your teeth for a lifetime e.g.?
Review of your medical history
Discussion of your past dental history
Extra oral examination and Cancer screening
Intra oral exam
Periodontal exam
Digital Extra-oral photographs
Intra-oral digital photographs
Digital radiographs (x-ray)... based on need.and standard of care.
Temporal mandibular examination (headaches etc.)
Diagnodent (laser cavity detection instrument)
Other test and examinations as needed.

Once armed with this information we determine "if" any dental treatment if needed (wanted). Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp, Highlands Ranch Dentists, then schedule you for a consultation.

Your dental consultation

The purpose of a dental consultation is to inform you of your dental needs and then you determine what and when you wish to proceed. We want you to understand your treatment including but not limited to:

Dental recommendations
Options or alternatives for dental treatment
Treatment time involved for the dental work involved
Treatment informed consent for the dental procedures
Cost and financing options of the option you choose.

Once armed with "all" this information you get to decide when you wish to do dental treatment. We feel empowering our dental patients is the key to our philosophy of "want based dentistry".
