Functional reasons for Invisalign Treatment at our Highlands Ranch Invisalign office. Crowding of lower anterior teeth.

As we age there is what dentists and Invisalign dentists term a "mesial migration of the teeth".  What this means is as we age the teeth more forward in the mouth.  The most frequent result of this movement is significant crowding of the front teeth. From a functional point of view the teeth become more difficult to brush and floss as teeth overlap each other. As these teeth overlap plaque and calculus (tartar) build up and is difficult to remove. This plaque and calculus can cause cavities (dental decay) and periodontal disease ranging from gingivitis to periodontal (gum) disease.  If left untreated or neglected this can lead to tooth loss

Our Highlands Ranch Invisalign dental office uses a series of Invisalign aligners (clear retainers) to slowly move your teeth into a more ideal position.  They may allow oral hygiene to be more effective and decreases the risk of dental disease.

How long will Invisalign treatment take

It depends upon the complexity of your case.  Complex movements like rotations of teeth are performed slower than  other movements.  The number of Invisalign aligners can range from 12 to around 40. If you figure an average of two week to three weeks per aligner it can take 6 months to approximately 1 ½ year or longer. Refinement Invisalign aligners may extend the treatment time.  The reality is your teeth dictate how fast and predictable the movements can occur with Invisalign.

Frequently both Dental Insurance... Health savings accounts or ... FLEX accounts provide benefits for Invisalign treatment. Check with your benefits manager to see if you might have some type of dental assistance for this. A typical case (if there is such a thing) runs around $4500 (circa 2009) with some cases less and some cases more.  It depends on the complexity of the movements needed by Invisalign to move your teeth into a better position.
